January Favorites [2017]

Hey everyone! I know it has been some time since my last post but the month of January was just crazy with colds, allergies, and a few fun events. But I am so excited to share with y’all my favorite products from the month! So let’s get right to it…

Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuit

This is probably one of the best matte liquid lipsticks that can be purchased at the drugstore AND it is only $4.99! There are 13 shades and Rebel Rose (pictured above) is my favorite. It applies easily, not too drying, and is pretty long wearing. I hate to say this but this lipstick is better than a lot of the more expensive brands carried at Sephora.

Maybelline Big Shot Mascara

I’m not one to spend a ton of money on mascara. In my opinion, drugstore mascaras have definitely proven to be just as great as higher end ones and this one by Maybelline did not disappoint. Maybelline is definitely my favorite brand when it comes to mascara. I was obsessed with the Rocket one until I got my hands on Big Shot. I have the waterproof formula in the blackest black available. This mascara gives length and volume with a curl that lasts throughout the day. While wearing this mascara, I have been asked countless times if I have falsies on! So yes it is that good. I haven’t tried the non waterproof formula just because I have extremely sensitive watery eyes due to allergies and I don’t like for my mascara to run. If you’re in the market for a new waterproof mascara you should give this a try!

Tarte Maneater Eyeshadow Palette

First of all the packaging is gorgeous! I can’t get over how pretty the gold with animal print is! If you are a warm toned shadow lover, this eyeshadow palette is for you. I took this on a weekend trip to Dallas and was able to create natural daytime and more amped up nighttime looks. Each shadow is pigmented and not chalky. Blending is super easy and the colors are not patchy at all. This is the perfect palette to travel with and I am so happy I picked it up at Ulta.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

This is one pricey foundation that is worth every penny. This foundation gives a medium to full coverage look with a natural luminous finish. I usually save this foundation for special occasions and with January being full of such occasions, I was able to get a lot of use out of this foundation which made me so happy. It looks great in flash photography and literally looks flawless on the skin. For those of you wondering, I wear the shade 5.5. It does oxidize on the skin, so I definitely recommend getting shade matched before purchasing.

L’Oreal Paris Detox and Brighten Pure Clay Mask

This is my second jar of this mask and I can’t say enough good things about it. When the mask is completely dry, you can see all the areas where you have excess oil and where the mask is putting in the most work. My skin feels super clean and my pores feel more refined after each use. I have been using this mask 3 times a week to help unclog and detoxify. I have also used it to spot treat any blemishes that I have and I have seen an immediate decrease in the size of the blemish after using it. There are two other masks in the collection and I can’t wait to try them out.

Pixi Glow Tonic

The overall texture of my skin has changed with this product. It has made my skin much smoother and since it doesn’t contain alcohol (like a lot of toners do) I find that my skin doesn’t feel dry or stripped after use. In fact, all my dry patches have disappeared because this product does such a great job exfoliating the skin. I can’t wait to see what my skin looks like after using this for a couple of months.

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Cleansing Oil

I don’t know about you, but I double cleanse every time I wear sunscreen or makeup. Cleansing oil is the first step in my nighttime skincare routine on those days. I find that if I just use one cleanser my skin never gets as clean as I would like for it to be. I have tried makeup wipes and my skin always breaks out after use so cleansing oil has been my go to.  It removes every bit of my makeup…even my waterproof mascara. This product leaves your skin really supple and soft after use…almost like you have already used a moisturizer. There is an oily residue that the product leaves once its rinsed but this hasn’t bothered me because I always use a regular face wash immediately after.

Beauty Counter Balancing Oil

My friend got me hooked on this. Beauty Counter has 3 oils and I picked up this one. This oil is extremely soothing and hydrating. The month of January was a rough time for my skin due to weather and being sick. Every time I’m sick my skin just feels so dry and dull and this oil has revived it. I add a couple drops to my moisturizer in the morning and at night and I just love how my skin feels after using it. If you have any questions about Beauty Counter let me know, I can put you in touch with my friend!

Unfavorites…

Skinfood Black Sugar Honey Mask

So I really really wanted to like this mask but just couldn’t get it to work for me. My skin did not react well to this mask. It is supposed to exfoliate and nourish your skin and I did not have those results. My skin was left irritated and red. If you choose to try this mask out, make sure you tie your hair back and stay clear of your hairline because it is so sticky and hard to remove from hair.

Have any of y’all tried these products? Also, let me know what y’all were loving during the month of January!
