Black History Month Children’s Books

The other day I was going through Olivia’s books and I realized that a majority of her books were fiction and based on Disney characters, fairies, unicorns, and the like. Now that she is getting older I think it’s time to incorporate more nonfiction books into her growing library.

With February being Black History Month, I thought it would be perfect to dive right in and get some new books. In addition to books focusing on prominent Black figures, I picked out some books with Black main characters and books featuring diverse characters.

Stevie usually gets the books that Olivia has grown out of and I was able to find a few new ones for him as well. Below you will find our picks and you can click each book to shop. (A lot of the books are on sale!)

Father’s Day Gift Guide Part 2 and 3

Hello and Happy Friday! Father’s Day is next weekend so I wanted to make sure this got up in time. I decided to combine both part 2 and part 3 to make it easier for you guys. This post has a ton of Amazon prime finds which is great!

So let’s start with Apple products. You cannot go wrong with an Apple Watch. Everyone I know loves their Apple Watch. The new AirPods have been a game changer for my husband. We both have the original AirPods that were released and we love them. But when these came out, my husband had me buy them the day they were released because he was so excited about the noise cancellation capability and the fact that they would fit better. The noise cancellation on these AirPods make them so worth the money! He recommends these to everyone!!

Pitaka is a favorite brand in our house because the company makes great accessories for Apple products. The magnetic case is so thin and you can use this wireless magnetic mount to hold your phone in your car and also charge your phone. Pitaka also has an AirPods case that will protect them and wirelessly charge them. My husband has recently purchased magnetic charging stations for our phones and one is a standard upright wireless charger and the other one comes with a portable power bank that you can use to charge your phone on the go. And lastly, he purchased the Apple Watch air case a few days ago and so far he is a fan.

A wireless speaker is also a great gift. It’s so nice to be able to take a small speaker that has a lot of volume power to the beach, golf course, pickleball courts, etc.

Sports memorabilia make a great gift for any dad who loves sports. I found a lot of cool ones on Amazon and these two were my favorite because I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love Kobe Bryant or Tiger Woods. These would look awesome in an office or mancave.

A good pocket knife is also a gift that will be used hundreds of times. I got my husband the small Gerber blade as a stocking stuffer for last Christmas. This one is small and can be hooked onto a set of keys or put in your pocket. It is a good knife for daily use and it is priced under $20. The Benchmade knives are a little pricey but they are really good quality. My husband got his first one when we lived in Kentucky and he recently purchased a second one. They have a lifetime warranty and they stay super sharp. This one and this one are both on sale.

Pickleball is quickly becoming a popular sport. Our neighborhood recently opened pickleball courts and so my husband purchased this paddle set and they have held up really well and are perfect if you are just now getting started with the sport.

A Theragun was something I wanted to get my husband for Father’s Day but he ended up buying it before I could. He uses this every single day for deep tissue massaging and he says that it was worth the price because he feels like a million dollars after using it.

The last few gifts are golf related. My husband loves golf and he plays any chance he gets. Polos and golf apparel can be a little pricey. Tiger Woods has been wearing collarless tops and my husband wanted to buy some. He has a few from Nike but he recently got this one and it is half the price of the Nike ones. It has washed well and the quality is great.

We have our own golf cart and a lot of accessories for it. The nice thing about all of these is that they are small enough to fit in a golf bag so you can attach them to any golf cart you will be using. The first one is a drink holder which attaches to the cart with a magnet. It can hold water bottles and beer cans. The second one is a rangefinder and smartphone holder. It fits inside a cup holder and keeps your rangefinder and phone safe and visible (my husband has lost rangefinders before and this has helped him keep track of it). And finally, this golf cart steering wheel phone mount and scorecard holder. This makes it easy for golfers who use apps on their phones while playing and who also like to have a visible scorecard.

So that wraps up my gift guides for Father’s Day 2020. Thanks for stopping by the blog today!
